Plan A seems to have failed but the problem lies in that Plan B is inviable. Moving away from deficit reduction would spook the markets and could lead to worse growth then we are seeing now, which is 0.1% in the last quarter.
The situation of having to decided between recession or bouncing along the bottom is not great but how did it come to this? It seems that the Conservatives have made mistakes when designing their plans. The cuts may have been necessary, Britain has a better credit rating then America who didn't cut, however the Tories went too hard and too fast. They not only tried to cut the deficit but added ideological cuts on top of that.
Cameron made a big deal in his speech today about Labour ruining everything, and yes they did not make great choices and borrowed to keep spending high, which did not bode well for the economy. But the Conservatives are also driving through political ideology in parliament, which is ruining the economy. They are both as bad as each other!
Some of the things the Conservatives propose are great, putting money into getting people back into the job market, increasing manufacturing and stripping back health and safety regulations. But these initiatives haven't been working properly and now is the time to change. But sadly they have made it extremely hard to do that. It seems all we can do is wait and see what happens, which doesn't seem to be a great way to run a country.

So the party conferences are over and the world is a melting pot of problems, most of all the economy. I have to say my faith in party politics is deteriorating. The Tories have cut welfare drastically and are not coping with the economy in a great manor. Labour made more bad decisions then good ones on the economy and did not deal with social inequality, and finally, the Liberal Democrats have not stood up for themselves at all. The world will be a whole new place in 2015, we may still be in crisis or maybe we'll be in boom but no party is really pulling in front, they all seem to be dragging themselves along very slowly. I guess we will have to do what the Conservatives are having to do, wait and see.
